Blackberry Smoke – Up In Smoke
You can call Atlanta-based Blackberry Smoke’s music Southern Rock and you wouldn’t be wrong. Or you could call it country and you wouldn’t be wrong, either. But you would be selling both the band and its legion of fans short. With influences that run the gamut from country to bluegrass to Gospel and yes, Southern Rock, Blackberry Smoke is more than the sum of its diverse parts.
NEON INDIAN is the brainchild of Texas-based electronic artist Alan Palomo (Ghosthunter, VEGA) who made quite a splash with 2009′s PSYCHIC CHASMS disc (aka the record that stayed in my CD Changer for a year). The band has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon as well as just about every cool festival one can imagine – Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, PItchfork, Monolith, Sasquatch, and many others with equally funny names. Opener PURITY RING includes members of Gobble Gobble (the band that blew minds at Stickyz with BATHS in March 2011). Friends, this show is NOT TO BE MISSED.

Justin Townes Earle might be the epitome of rockstar: He won the Best New
and Emerging Artist at the 2009 Americana Music Awards. His record,
Midnight at the Movies, was named one of the best records of last year by
Amazon, received four stars in Rolling Stone and found a sweet spot in the
blackened hearts of fans and critics alike. GQ Magazine named him one of
the 25 best dressed men in the world in 2010. He has also appeared on HBO’s
Treme with his dad, troubadour Steve Earle, on whose Grammy Award-winning
Pitching its sound between sunny indie rock and upbeat alt-country-rock, Delta Spirit continues to make waves with its critically acclaimed and fan favorite debut full-length album Ode To Sunshine, and in 2010 released a second album, History From Below on the Rounder Records label.
